What is a breast lift? Enhanced results to meet your aesthetic goals

After carefully listening to a patient’s goals and medical history, Dr. Markelov may recommend a breast lift combined with an augmentation for the best results. This procedure:

  • Helps the breasts sit higher on the chest wall
  • Enhances the breasts to be fuller and rounder

The size and shape of the breast implants will depend on the patient’s goals. Typically, most patients want to achieve a more youthful-looking figure with a breast augmentation and lift. Dr. Markelov’s goal is for patients to feel safe and excited to show off their post-surgery bodies.

Your breast augmentation with lift procedure

Before surgery, Dr. Markelov completes an in-depth assessment of the patient’s body and their image goals. He walks each patient through any questions or concerns they may have and makes sure they feel confident and comfortable about the procedure.

The surgery is performed under general anesthesia. With Dr. Markelov, breast lifts always have shorter scars than is typical, because he avoids large incisions in the breast crease in favor of the ‘lollipop’ incision. He creates an ‘internal brassiere’ to provide long-lasting results and promote fullness in the upper part of the breasts. The surgery lasts around two hours.

Ideal candidates

If you are self-conscious about your breasts and feel that your overall appearance is negatively impacted by their size and the way they sit, then this procedure could be helpful. Most patients who pursue this procedure are:

  • Women whose breasts have been negatively impacted by pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Women with reduced skin elasticity due to aging or significant weight loss
  • Women whose breasts sag or droop because of genetics

Recovery

Dr. Markelov has developed rapid recovery techniques over the years, so his patients are able to resume low-impact daily activities the next day. To achieve this, he uses a special medication protocol and long-acting local anesthetic to administer nerve blocks between the ribs for painless recovery.

Recovery after a breast augmentation with lift usually looks like this:

  • Light activity permissible the next day
  • Resume typical activities in 2 weeks
  • Taxing exercise should be avoided for 4-6 weeks
  •  Non-narcotic pain relievers are used whenever possible

Dr. Markelov does not use permanent sutures in his procedures; all sutures dissolve over time. He then uses skin glue to cover the incisions, which makes aftercare much easier. Swelling and soreness are normal in the days following the surgery, and you may be advised to avoid some types of physical movements for several weeks post-op.
