Among the most important directives is that you stop smoking for at least 4-6 weeks prior to your facelift. Smoking can seriously inhibit the body’s ability to heal after surgery. Also, try to minimize alcohol use before your facelift. For two weeks prior to surgery, discontinue over-the-counter medications such as aspirin, Motrin, Vitamin E, fish oil, and herbal supplements, as these can cause prolonged bleeding. Don’t make any significant dietary changes, and limit salt intake for a few days before your facelift. 

    Schedule a friend, family member, or helper to drive you home from your surgery and assist you for 24-48 hours. Prepare your living space for recovery by purchasing any household items you might need, as well as soft foods and juices. You might also want to buy some extra pillows to keep your head propped up, which can reduce swelling. Fill out any prescriptions ahead of time to reduce stress and extra trips to the pharmacy.
